Golden Syrup Dumplings

INGREDIENTS

DUMPLINGS
2 cups Vitarium Self Raising Flour
2 tablespoons butter - melted
2 eggs - beaten
4-5 tablespoons milk
SYRUP
3 cups water
1 cup caster sugar
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1 tablespoon lemon juice


STEP ONE

Heat oven to 190c. Whisk butter with milk and egg. Add to Vitarium Self Raising Flour and mix with a blunt edged knife until completely combined. Roll into small balls and place in an oven dish. This mixture makes about 16 dumplings but size and number are optional.

STEP TWO

In a saucepan heat water, caster sugar, extra butter, golden syrup and lemon juice. Stir until sugar has dissolved and bring to the boil.

STEP THREE

Pour syrup over dumplings and bake for approximately 20-30 minutes or until dumplings are golden brown. Serve with cream or ice-cream.
